May Day

Howdy friends! I have a cute little post for you today and the only thing that makes it cute of course is the fact that Dillon is in it. DUHHH 😆

So I contemplated posting this because I am not comfortable in what I’m wearing because these are PRE PREGNANCY denim shorts that still are a little tight and hard to button shut.

But I thought what better way to share my postpartum experience? I gained a hefty 50 pounds, that’s right 5-0 during my pregnancy and I gave myself a hard time about it.

Looking at how healthy and strong Dillon turned out, I changed my mind. But that didn’t make acceptance of the weight or the process of losing it any easier. Once he was born I wanted the weight GONE!

You know, you look to social media for inspiration but it has a tendency to make you feel disgusting. Like when you have greasy hair, circles under your eyes, and you’re covered in spit up, wearing your baggy sweats while looking at a Mom who’s one month postpartum glowing in her size 2 skinnies.

But everyone is different and comparing yourself to these picturesque accounts is just silly. So yeah my hips are wider and I have a few more stretch marks. I kind of see these as a reminder of what I did.

As women, we grow in an entire person all the while still functioning in day to day life. THEN, if that isn’t enough we have to actually labor them out. LABOR is called labor for a reason, it’s WORK!

Whether you section or deliver vaginally, oh it’s a lot. So I’m a little different and a little jaded, but that’s ok.

And someone had told me, it took nine months to gain the weight, give yourself that time to lose it. I’m seven months out and I have a mere eight pounds to go, but I’m not stressing about it. I try to eat healthy for the most part and do some form of activity five days a week.

As women we struggle more internally than men ever will because there’s a silent expectation on us to stay “perfect”. Well life is perfect so we need to stop trying to make it so.

But here’s my look with my boy who’s worth every stretch mark, pound, and then some. My shorts are a little snug, but I’m working on it! 😊😘👍

Shoes, vest, sunnies, necklace: Denim shorts are really old, top: Forever 21

until next time,

stay cute, stay sweet.
